Northeast states will need heating bill help
On average, Americans are expected to pay about $1,180 this winter to heat their homes, which is up 20% from last year, according to recent predictions from the Energy Information Administration (EIA).
But the situation in the Northeast, where over 8 million households depend on home heating oil, is much worse. Homeowners in the Northeast are expected to spend an average of $2,725 on heating bills this winter.
While over half of America's households now use natural gas for home heating purposes, unfortunately the Northeast has the highest concentration of home heating oil users in the nation. And a 31% increase in the price of heating bills has the region on edge and looking for all the help with heating bills that they can get.
